During 2023, the Friends of the Yankee Brass, Inc. Board of Directors has been very busy in working to fulfill the mission of the organization.

  • Organize and support the Yankee Brass Band to provide live performances that inform audiences of the authentic musical traditions, sounds, and repertoire of 19th century bands.
  • Research, restore, and preserve the actual brass band music of the period.
  • Provide educational activities and historically informed presentations to promote a better awareness and understanding of the role of brass bands in building our cultural identity and creating a common cultural bond in America.

In 2023, the Board organized a very successful July concert tour of the Yankee Brass Band. The band presented concerts at four locations in Pennsylvania and one in New Jersey. Included in the tour was a workshop presentation at the summer conference of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) on the topic of American Brass Bands. As with all of our performances, audience members had the opportunity to learn more about the bands and music of the era through commentary by Music Director, Dr. James Chesebrough.

Maine 2024 Concert Tour: The Board is organizing a concert tour in Maine during July 22-27. We are currently working to select tour locations and sponsors. If your organization is interested or you know of an organization that may be interested, please contact John Mueller, 2024 Tour Coordinator, ASAP at program.coordinator@yankeebrassband.org to discuss concert fees, venue requirements, and available dates. This is a great opportunity to support the Yankee Brass Band and to present your audience members with a unique and entertaining event.

The Yankee Brass Band website is being regularly updated to provide information about the organization and plans for events.
